What Family Does…

I still remember the cold, wet feeling of condensation on my small hands as they pressed against the large, plate-glass window of our living room. My 8-yr-old brow furrowed as I watched tiny snowflakes make their way to the ground. “What was to become of us!?” I thought. A terrible predicament on Christmas Eve.  I…

Journeying Well In Humble Heart…

Much has been said in recent weeks about the importance of kindness, gentleness, and humility. Often, in our society, these attributes are sorely overlooked and characteristics such as personality, charisma, and eloquence are elevated. I love the way James Baker phrased it when referring to his good friend, Pres. H.W. Bush. He said “He was…

Imagine… What If We Just Loved?

Have you grown weary of all the hate, injustice, anger, and sadness in the world? What if we just loved? What God truly desires is for his children to love Him and to LOVE one another! Imagine. Imagine if you could carry with you, wherever you go, at your very epicenter, a ball of ‘Light.’ A…

When Cancer is a Gift…

“And there’s this other, funny thing… I love, more!  L O V E . That’s all I feel.” These are the words of a dying man. “Nothing but love.” he says. These words have haunted me since I first read them two Autumn’s ago… I read them, sadly, days after hearing of my friend’s passing. (Those who follow…

A Lens Of Understanding…

As I scrolled through my social media feed, it happened again. Twice (to be exact) and regarding two completely unrelated current events. “If you don’t agree with me on XYZ, unfriend me now!?” ************************** Have you ever found yourself sitting in the Facebook seat of judgement? How about Twitter? I don’t know about you, but…

the making of KINDNESS…

The other day I overheard a commentator on tv say “Let’s bring kindness back.” I loved the sentiment and overarching theme of the idea and zealously thought…  let’s start a campaign. What if we actually could make America KIND again?  Now before those whose feelings are not so warm-and-fuzzy towards President Trump (or for those…

Miracles Take Time

Lately, I’ve been extremely worried about something completely out of my control, so I prayed “God, if this ever comes to pass, it will be a miracle. And when it does, I will know it is You (and you alone,) who is the Maestro.” Let me tell you, I was standing on His promises and…

Going Deeper, Still… [the Love Challenge].

As I stood there feeling humiliated, the sting was somewhat lessened. Because I knew God was teaching me the very thing I had been praying to learn.  Lately, I’ve been trying something new. Whenever I feel offended, disappointed, rejected, hurt, misunderstood, or just plain treated unkindly, I pray for the transgressor of my emotions. I…

Learning Grace in the Advent…

I’ve become the neighbor I loathe. And it grieves me. Deeply. In all the rush to usher Christmas in early this year for the adulting child who only gets one trip home, I failed to usher out the old… Days into the twelfth month, I discover pumpkins at the back stoop. Pumpkins left out. Left…

Hope is life-giving. And Jesus is our living hope! Hope is life-giving. And Jesus is our living hope! He brings us out of death and despair—and places within us “the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27).

Hope is the characterization of our salvation in Christ. And where there is Hope, there is life–abundantly (John 10:10). Who wouldn’t want to share the good news of a living hope with a world in desperate need of a Savior?

The presence of living hope in our lives transforms us from the inside out. And when we rely on our hope in Him for the abundant life, our lives are filled with joy. HOPE is meant to be shared, y’all!

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3).

“May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Roman’s 15:13).

Share the good news of everlasting Hope, friend! And if you find yourself in need of eternal hope, my inbox is always open. 💕

I think the biggest fallacy we have as mothers is I think the biggest fallacy we have as mothers is that our children no longer need us after they turn 18. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Being a mom means being a lifetime prayer warrior.

“Her children rise up and call her blessed” (Proverbs 31:28a).

Happy Mother’s Day, friends! Hug your mama— 💕

The story of Habakkuk wrestling with the question, The story of Habakkuk wrestling with the question, “Why do bad things happen?” reminds us, though the storms of life rage, God is still present. God is still good–and faithful!

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess for He who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23).

I so desperately wanted to return from my 40 days of Lent and social vacay with clarity on my current life circumstances, yet I still dwell in the land of Habakkuk. So, I wait. And I trust. The great theologian and Victorian preacher, Charles Spurgeon, explains hope like this, “Hope itself is like a star, not to be seen in the sunshine, but to be discovered in the night of adversity.”

Adversity is often a tool of correction or refinement. The promise of a future hope reminds us, our suffering is never wasted. And always worth the journey.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Hope is still alive–and working for our good. Even in seasons of adversity. 💕
