Breaking Down… and Trusting Him in the Journey.

One year ago, hubby and I drove through Cairo, Illinois on our way to pick up Cousin Carl for Thanksgiving. Hubby pulled into the historic district for what would be our very last time. Although, unbeknownst to us at the time—we may have suspected it!? And I’m so glad we did. Because we captured this…

Naming [and Doing] the Hard Things…

“I can do hard things, if it’s only for a season” is what I kept telling myself, as my mama’s care demandingly increased. What an incredible honor and how exceedingly joyful it was to serve her so well in her final weeks, days, and moments, but caring for someone you love going downhill that fast…

Fightin’ Crime… and Cancer.

In those hard, early crime fighting days, we called ourselves the Three Amigos. This past winter, I had planned to slowly unpack our story of combatting crime and evil for all of you. But God had different plans… It was almost a year ago when I pulled The car aside into a North Dallas park…

Changing Life Seasons… {Travel On}

I rediscovered Yellowstone National Park pics from fifty years just a couple days before we left for own family trip two weeks ago. I was only a year old on that trip. My parents had just bought a camper and Yellowstone was our inaugural trip. But the only thing I remember about that trip is…

[A Holy Marker… ] My Mama’s Cancer Journey

“Falling leaves are summer’s way of telling us goodbye.” – unknown Three incredibly difficult seasons have come and gone since I last posted to the A Meaningful Journey blog site. All I can say is… God and cancer can move at lightning speed!? I can’t say as to why God chose to move me across…

If We Make It Through December…

The second half of 2019 brought a flurry of rollercoaster twists and turns for our family… and in God’s amazing grace, all for the good! God works like this ya’ know… not on our schedule… and not at all as we would think!? Or could even imagine. But always for our good! Spending most of 2015…

The Secret [Lesson] of Life…

Humility isn’t exactly a characteristic we value much less elevate nowadays… “Humility has a dank and shameful smell to the worldly, the scent of failure, lowliness and obscurity.”* But Jesus came into this world humble in birth and he died on the cross equally in stature. He set the finest example in humility for all…

Discouraged by the events of the day, I sensed God Discouraged by the events of the day, I sensed God nudging me to look out my car window. Shining through the steamy rays of what felt like endless disappointment was a perfect reminder of GOD’S PROMISE smiling back at me.

“Dare I hope, Lord?”, I thought.

I’d experienced this sort of nudging once before with another rainbow sighting. Again, the pervading thought, “Dare I hope, Lord?”

I’m reminded of the rare, double rainbow Nashville’s @covenantknights experienced in 2023 when tragedy threatened their hope in an unseen God. And I’m perfectly wrecked all over again by the goodness of God. And the audacity of hope!

The promise of the rainbow is God’s gift to a broken, troubled world. It represents the perfect and the imperfect, the seen and the unseen, the now and the not yet.

“Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior—and my hope is in you all day long (Psalm 25:4-6).”

Our hope, as believers, rests in an unseen reality. Dare to hope in the promises of the Lord. He really does love us, y’all!

Have you experienced a true-blue, storm-wrapped promise fulfilled through a rainbow sighting? As always, I’d love to hear. 💕

Hope is life-giving. And Jesus is our living hope! Hope is life-giving. And Jesus is our living hope! He brings us out of death and despair—and places within us “the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27).

Hope is the characterization of our salvation in Christ. And where there is Hope, there is life—abundantly (John 10:10). Who wouldn’t want to share the good news of a living hope with a world in desperate need of a Savior?

The presence of living hope in our lives transforms us from the inside out. And when we rely on our hope in Him for the abundant life, our lives are filled with joy. HOPE is meant to be shared, y’all!

I think the biggest fallacy we have as mothers is I think the biggest fallacy we have as mothers is that our children no longer need us after they turn 18. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Being a mom means being a lifetime prayer warrior.

“Her children rise up and call her blessed” (Proverbs 31:28a).
