Evil, Self-Serve, and a Holy Juxtaposition… {Does God Really Exist}

Through the ages, so much thought and emphasis has been placed on answering the question “Does God really exist?” And “Is Heaven real?” But seldom have we asked “Where does evil come from?” Most of the time, we barely acknowledge that evil even exists in this world. And when we do, we attribute its identity to human beings. Not to the otherworldly kind!? It’s only when we’re confronted with evil in our most undone, devastated moments, do we begin to fathom the question.

Science tells us for every action there is a reaction. And, obviously, to every question exists an answer. So it is [on earth] in the beginningin the original garden of good and evil – a juxtaposition of a holy kind. The utter failure of mankind to recognize and call by name the antithesis to all that is good has been our unraveling ever since and herein lies the truth that has haunted us for the millennia – evil does exist in this world! And when left unchecked, it can create insurmountable suffering and carnage.

Would a master artisan [a Creator] create a masterpiece* [the human race] just to ultimately defile, defame, and destroy itself, if the Genesis story were not true!? It’s difficult to imagine. Some might call the idea a social experiment… But God lovingly calls us – each one, by name – and he calls us not by our sins [or failures] but instead He surnames us beloved stating “I am the potter, you are the clay.”

be·lov·ed (adjective) dearly loved. synonyms: darling, dear, dearest, precious, adored, loved, cherished, favorite, treasured, prized, esteemed.

Affection can not be forced. We must choose. Each and every one. We must choose whom we will love. And whom we will serve. Will we lovingly serve the Good Father? Or will we choose to love and serve the great deceiver!? We can not serve two masters. Jesus teaches “the first will be last, and the last will be first.” But the prince of darkness tempts to self-serve

Friends, let’s stop asking the question if God really exists and ponder the thought “Who is actively pursuing us? And who is seeking to destroy us!?” Humans are not evil. Humans are capable of great evil – yes. Yet, we’re but a speck of dust…  Humans are a mere reflection of whom they [love] serve. Let’s start recognizing and understanding who the real enemy is. “Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walks around as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 2:8) But Jesus says…

“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But fear not I have overcome this world.” (John 16:33)

Lord, help us to remember overwhelming victory is ours through Christ Jesus. Help us not to imitate evil but to be imitators of you as your beloved children! Help and lead us to walk in [your] love…

* “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10

  1. Great point! Flipping the coin for a different look on the age old question of God’s existence. I’ve often said that when a horrendous act has been committed, there must be demonic influence at hand, bc it’s hard for me to believe man can be so depraved w/o it.

    1. Yes! So true… acknowledging that ‘demonic influence’ helps us to understand the world we love in and the world we hope to enjoy! Thanks for stopping by. 💕
