Dreaming Big…

Grief is a bitter pill. The tears so close to the surface, I don’t dare let them spill. For if I did, the hydrant may never drip dry. The dreaded first Christmas now looms in recent past. But early January 2020, looming ever larger…

*************************

In what seemed the shortest week of the year in 2020, I claimed not one (as is customary), but two word(s) of the year. Soon after—merely days, God revealed His plans using both words mightily to perform miracle after miracle. God asked me to fathom a new life in Hometown, OK. And when things seemed entirely uncertain one Saturday afternoon while receiving one disconcerting phone call after another, God comfortingly whispered over-and-over my second word of the year as I dutifully painted a pink powder-room beige. “Remember—expectancy!” He said.

This gift of a single word kept me sane, moving towards the goal, and expectant that God not only is who He says He is but that He is faithful to those called according to His purpose. My 2021 word of the year, less than 24-hours old, has already begun taking center-stage in my consciousness. It’s constant appearance reminding me, the meaning for the journey—pointing others to Him from glory to glory!

God is in the dream-giving business. He gives us dreams (or aspirations) to reflect His goodness. And when we delight in Him, He grants us the desires of our hearts. My prayer in 2021 is to DREAM* big with courage, curiosity, constancy, and confidence…

To be sure, God showed up big for me in 2020 and I’m asking Him to do it again. But this year, I’m dreaming dreams of being a blessing, living my salvation for all to see, steeping daily in His Word, and loving others more than ever before. And in all the hardest places.

“And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become more like him.” 2 Corinthians 3:18

“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.” – unknown

And believe, I do!

How about you? Is God calling you into a God-sized dream? How are you answering the call? I’d love to hear… 💕
