Lessons in Becoming [how to become all that God created us to be]…
You would never know by looking, but this young woman [circa ‘97] is “in between” life seasons. And in less than two years, she will land in Nashville to carve a life. A dream she didn’t know “to dream” for herself as a young girl. But a life, God was calling her to—nonetheless.
As we stepped through the back door of the Grand Ole Opry for the first time in our young lives, Hubby said “Whatever you do, arrange a photo op.” At the time, I didn’t even know what Martina McBride looked like?! You see, living in Nashville and teaching country music singers was never in my plan. But God is like that, isn’t He?! He doesn’t always call us to the easy or predictable. But what He does call us to is a life of serving His holy purpose.
We needed Nashville more than we knew at the time—and certainly more than it needed us. But Nashville held GOD’S PROMISE for becoming all that we needed to become to serve His glory.
Twenty-plus years of growing, becoming, trusting, and loving Him [and each other] brought us to yet another crossroad. And once again God called us to forge a new life—far from the life we’d come to love. A life I’d prayed, waited, and waded in the proverbial desert for… Changing seasons is scary. But God is reminding me through the story of Joshua,
“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:7-9
Be strong and courageous! y’all! Walk boldly in your calling. Believe in miracles. Believe God has paved the way. Know He has taken all of your mistakes and inadequacies into account. Don’t be scared or intimidated, because God is with you wherever you go. And where He leads, you will not fail.
Oh, how I needed this reminder [today] in this season of becoming… Perhaps you needed it too?
Are you standing on the horizon waiting for God to usher you into the Promised Land—scared and unsure, but confident God is calling and guiding you in the journey? If so, let this scripture be your comfort and strength to keep going! Do it scared, y’all. God will fulfill all that He has promised.
Perhaps you’re currently living life “in between” seasons, becoming—but not yet!? I’d love to offer you these words by Karen Kingsbury which helped me hold firmly on to hope in a season when it all looked humanly impossible. “When one season gives way to the next, there is a single moment where they meet in the moment. Always celebrate those moments.” Nothing is impossible with God, friends. 💕
Love and needed this post. ❤️ I am “in-between” seasons, in transition on my way to God’s promised land. Thank you for the words of encouragement, Rachel.
So glad… I’m not sure what “season of life” you’re currently in, but this I do know! No doubt we will travel through many seasons in our lifetime. A quote I’ve come to love by Karen Kingsbury goes something like this this, “Celebrate the brief moments when life’s seasons overlap.” It got me through my “desert” years. Much LOVE… 💕
