Why Your [Broken] Story Matters…

Last month as we chased the Blue Moon, as oft we do, I was experiencing increasingly infuriating health issues which eventually led to the canceling of hubby’s birthday celebrations over the holiday weekend. It was a hard blow—for both of us. And for different reasons. But out of the ashes, a tide of healing burst ashore…

Our broken stories matter to God.

BROKENNESS is distinct to our human-ness. And it is through our broken stories and our deep longing for God’s goodness to wash over us that we share the human experience. It is the bond which connects all of our stories together. The brokenness of those stories, individual and collectively, matter to a loving God–your Heavenly Father. You may wonder, why your [broken] story matters? Because all of humanity matters to God. And His great big, eternity-sized LOVE STORY includes you and me–and all of our human-ness!

Taking our troubles and hard-to-tell stories in this world to God in prayer, guides us onto a path of healing and everlasting peace. What can you ask and trust God to heal in your humanness this week? 

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:7

Elisabeth Elliott once said, “Of one thing I am perfectly sure, God’s story never ends with ashes.”

So, if the story you’re living [currently] feels more like a nightmare than a fairytale, hold on dear friend. God’s not done with your story–yet! Keep going. Keep believing. Keep trusting in His goodness. Your story has a happy ending in Christ Jesus.
